How to Pray the Lutheran Rosary

Opening Prayers

Begin with the Sign of the Cross, confess the Apostles' Creed, pray the Our Father, and offer three Hail Marys using the biblical text that ends with the name of Jesus.

Meditate on Christ's Mysteries

Announce each mystery, reflect upon the life of Christ, and pray one Our Father and ten Hail Marys. Allow Scripture and the catechism to guide the meditation.

Conclude in Thanksgiving

Offer the Glory Be and a thanksgiving that rejoices in Christ's saving work, asking to imitate His saints in faith and love.

Optional Devotions

Pray Psalm 103, sing a Lutheran hymn, or give thanks for the witness of Mary and the faithful who point us to Christ.

Why a Lutheran Rosary?

The rosary grew within the Western church as a way to meditate on the life of Christ. This adaptation preserves that Christ-focused meditation while ensuring every prayer confesses Him as the only mediator (1 Timothy 2:5). It honors Mary and the saints as faithful witnesses who point us to Jesus, without appealing to their intercession.
